Last weekend ickledot was lucky enough to attend a 2 day workshop run by photographer and Photoshop 'guru' Glyn Dewis. To make up the duo he was joined by photographer and lighting expert, Kieron Nevison. Having grown to admire Glyn's work and techniques through watching a number of his YouTube tutorials and Kelby Training courses, it came as a real bonus to find that this workshop was being run in Halifax, just a handful of miles from ickledot's home.
Crammed full of ideas, advice, tips and practical activity, the course was divided between taking posed and action pictures at a boxing club on the first day and processing on the second.
For ickledot, the pitch was just about right: some content was completely new (this especially so when looking at lighting equipment and use), some familiar but looked at from a new angle and some which served to signal that ickledot's been moving in the right direction.
This was an excellent workshop. Thanks go mainly to Glyn and Kieron but also to the three excellent models, Lee, Rob and Lee, Halifax Boxing Club and also Sue who organised the catering and much more.
The image above is the first of my efforts. It's mine but not mine! I took the shot and processed it using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and a Topaz plugin. However, the lighting and positioning of the 'fighters' was down to Glyn and Kieron.
