Another superb rugby weekend, and not only on television (although that was dramatic enough). On Saturday ickledot was in Ilkley to see their team play West Leeds in the semi-final of the West Yorkshire shield. The home side came out eventual winners there by a score of 14-0 but for much of the game it could have gone either way. For those from further afield, Ilkley are the team in black and red, leeds in blue and gold.More pics here. A journey north of the Tyne on Sunday to see Yorkshire's Under 20 side take on Northumberland. Both sides were previously unbeaten so it promised to be hard fought game and it didn't disappoint. An early lead for Yorkshire was wiped out by half time and in the second half Northumberland stormed ahead by 17 points. Unbelievably Yorkshire recovered to win 44-41 but not before the home side rallied with a late try. Breathtaking. Here's a picture following one of Yorkshire's second half tries. Happiness and despair in one frame. You can see more from the game here.
