Spent a great day with some Young Ambassadors from Bradford Museums & Galleries last week. They were learning about the trials and tribulations of running a stately home, open to the public. In this case it was Harewood House, near Leeds. At the risk of boring readers rigid with yet another mention of the Tour de France in Yorkshire, Harewood House was the place where the race began in earnest: Le Grande Departe. As on that day, the weather was kind and the sun shone. ickledot hadn't visited before and was truly impressed by its size and splendour.
As an added bonus, one of Henry Moore's magnificent reclining figures formed a contrast with the formal architecture of the building itself.
