Well, it's getting so ickledot can hardly remember taking pictures of Bradford & Bingley's Bees in totally dry conditions. For their latest game, against Hullensians, a heavy snow fall the previous Thursday through Friday had left the ground saturated once more.
When ickledot first arrived at the ground an hour or so before kick off, the prospect of play on the first team pitch was doubtful. However, a drying wind with a bit more ground prodding brought a change of mind and it was deemed fit for play. As you can tell from the pictures, there was still much surface water, leading to extremely muddy players and a good deal of sliding around, some of it intentional. The Bees won out in the end although it was something of a struggle. A poor showing from them in the first forty gave a 13-3 lead to Hullensians at the break. Thankfully for the home supporters the Bees improved markedly in the second half, running in three tries, the first from Taylor Fiddes (below) within a couple of minutes of the restart.
The two further scores came from Lachlan Moore, the second being an airborne finish. You can see a more detailed report of the game here.
For ickledot it was the debut of a movie camera: the GoPro Session. As you'll see, first results were somewhat mixed. The camera has an extremely wide angle so the players in this first movie seem to be miles away! Not a good idea either to have the stills camera in shot. Can't wait to give it another try though.
