First rugby and first serious photographing for a couple of weeks, following a break for a big birthday bash. Back to a semblance of normality and the rugby fast came to an end with a trip to West Park Leeds and the day's opposition: West Bridgford.
Slight trepidation for the home side as three significant squad members were away on Rugby League duty with Great Britain. Unfortunately for their Nottinghamshire opponents, replacements slotted in well and the overall strength of WPL seemed hardly affected at all.
Stronger in the pack throughout, this was also a day when WPL's backs moved the ball across the field at pace with efficient fluency - hardly a pass went down. An early score took away any initial tension and after that the points mounted up steadily. At game's end the home side had amassed a score of 53 without reply. An impressive victory.
Also hugely impressive was the approach of West Bridgford. This was their second heavy defeat in as many weekends and teams with less character and emotional strength might have given up. Not them. They clearly enjoy playing whatever the score and there were shouts of encouragement both on and off the field from first to final whistle.
Although they didn't score, their longest periods of possession came in the last quarter, pushing the home side back into their own half. On another day that final pass would have led to points.
